house
originally built in the early14th century, the house was used variously as a hair comb manufacture, a bookbinding shop, a butchery, and a guest house. In 2015 after a complete renovation we transformed it into a b&b. the love of detail is visible in every corner. the house is located in the heart of the historic old town of aarau.
all within easy reach are: cinemas, theater, the art museum, a museum of history, the naturama, restaurants, various shops, boutiques, bars, clubs, a pharmacy, a doctor, or the shores of the aare river.
within a short distance are: the public swimming pool, the roggenhausen animal zoo, the skating center rollingrock, the horse racing track, minigolf, or bowling.
in our café, in the basement, we serve breakfast with local products. weather permitting, an outdoor breakfast in the pelzgasse is also possible. the house has four floors each with one guestroom equipped with up-to-date infrastructure including a working desk, internet access and tv. quality beds and matresses guarantee a good night’s sleep. each room has a modern bathroom with shower or tub and toilet.
we invest into solar power and cover more than 50% of our electric need thru our shared ownership solar plant in aarau.

by train
travel time to/from zuerich, basel or bern is approx. one half hour.
from the main station it is a 10 minutes walk or you can take the citybus/postauto and get off at „holzmarkt“ or „rathaus“. both stations are less than 100 m away from us.
by bicycle
thru the „obertor“, over the „kettenbruecke“ or via „laurenzenvorstadt“ you can directly pedal to our house. the bicycles can be parked with us or at the „velostation sued“ located in the main station (guarded bicycle garage).
by car
take autobahn exit „aarau west“ (arriving from bern) or „aarau ost“ (arriving from zuerich). we are located in the pedestrian area of the historic old town, direct access by car is only possible with permission. however there are several parking garages in the neighborhood (floesserplatz, kaserne, casinopark, citimaert, bahnhof). for a longer stay you can apply for an individual parking card at the city office.
